Mullen's Miracles is honored to have Matt Sherry on our board. Matt's extensive experience as a School Resource Officer and Police Officer has impacted and positively benefitted so many lives and continues to do so! Thank you Matt!
Please watch the important message he has to share.
If I can offer one piece of advice, it would be to take people seriously when they reach out for support. No questions asked. Stop what you are doing. Take the call, respond to the text. Ask for help if you aren't sure what to do. Call a family member. Police will do wellness checks. Saving a life is P-R-I-C-E-L-E-S-S. There are so many ways to help when someone is in crisis. I know from the text and voice messages left on Eric's phone that he tried but without the ability to express how serious his situation was at the time. Sometimes being proactive and doing a wellness check on a friend can save a life.
I made the most vital commitment to my comatose son, Eric, while at the University of Iowa Hospitals, waiting to match transplant recipients. That commitment was to spend the rest of my life doing everything in my power to be his voice; help others and their families not have to go through such a devastating loss.
As Mullen's Miracles grows, programs will include Suicide Awareness and Education, which we will continuously strive to share as broadly as possible.
In the meantime, thank you for taking the time to listen to Matt's message and think about ways you can help family or friends through times of crisis. Each and every life counts. So do minutes in times of crisis.
Suicide education isn't something on your radar until it is too late. We want to change that.
Be A Miracle,
Mullen's Miracles Founder
